June 1978 “Tape op” at Olympic Recording Studios Barnes London October 1978 joined the BBC as a trainee sound assistant at Television Centre London.

Sept 1981 transferred to BBC Outside Broadcasts as a Sound Assistant

October 1987 Promoted to Sound Supervisor

1990 to 2009 Senior Sound Supervisor BBC Outside Broadcasts

2009 to 2011 Senior Sound Supervisor

Tim has had an extensive career taking in all program genres. A busy and popular supervisor, who expects the highest quality of work from both himself and the crew he assembles. He joined the BBC at TVC in 1978, progressing to supervisor in 1987, He was a Senior Sound Supervisor at SiS Live before leaving to take up up a freelance career in Dec 2011.

Tim has mixed programs at the highest level, including being asked to work for the Host Broadcaster on the 2000 Sydney Olympics Ceremonies and Track, three Commonwealth Games, mixing Ceremonies and track feeds. And of course, London 2012 where he was Sound Supervisor (A1) for the OBS coverage of the Equestrian Events in Greenwich for the Olympics which obtained many accolades from production and viewers, and the Morning show presentation mixer for IMG/CH4 for the Paralympics. This has carried on as Tim and his team went to Rio for the Equestrian coverage for the main Olympics. Also Tim Returned to Rio for the Para’s working for Sunset and Vine for Channel 4.

At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, Tim was Audio Director for the Games and also Ceremony Supervisor. He took a key role in the 2010 Delhi games as not only lead supervisor for the Main Stadium for Ceremonies and track, but also did a lot of legacy training for Indian TV. He also was lead supervisor for the Athletics at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014.

The range of shows he have worked on varies from a flyaway scanner in a tractor shed in San Carlos on the Falkland Islands, to Live Aid/8/Earth. Probably one of only a few people to work on all three “Live” Concerts.

Since going freelance he has worked for a range of clients and new different projects.Tim's Company, Peaksix Audio Ltd was chosen to provide the audio for recordings of The Globe Theatre's festival “Globe to Globe”. 39 Shakespeare plays in 39 different languages on 39 nights, produced for The Space project. Carrying on the Shakespeare connection, Recently Tim helped make “A Midsummers Night Dream” for CBeebies, which went on to be nominated for many awards and then win an RTS award for Best Children's Program.

Tim has been sharing the supervising duties on Formula One for both the BBC and now Ch4 since 2013, something he enjoys as a bit of a petrol head!

Tim was chosen to be the Supervisor for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert outside Buckingham Palace.

Tim also mixed ITV's Saturday night Dance show Stepping Out, The Final. Other regular shows include Glastonbury festival, Crufts, Invictus Games, BBC Music Awards, IMG Darts, My life in music with Burt Bacharach and also Tim Rice, Children in Need, Children in Need Rocks, Live Easter Service, and a big Military Parade in Amman Jordan, similar to Trooping the Colour, something he has also mixed in the UK. He is also a regular mixer on the BBC’s One Show, a nightly magazine program. In the past Tim was Production mixer for the MTV European Music Awards for 6 years.

Tim was chosen to take over the broadcast sound for the Olivier Awards for the Society of London Theatres at the Royal Albert Hall. A massive show in every respect, with over 200 feeds coming from the stage!

For the last 4 years Tim has supervised and mixed the big New Years Eve Concert and Fireworks from London, featuring Gary Barlow, Queen, Bryan Adams, Robbie Williams, Nile Rodgers and Chic, and last year Madness. It has been the most watched music show in the UK each year for the last 5 years! Tim has already been booked for next year!

Recently Tim has just recorded a second series with Comedy Legends Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, bringing the Big Night Out back to the BBC.

Besides Tim's broadcast career he famously has been asked to engineer and mix a number of albums. Most notably, Torville and Deans Greatest Hits. (including the Olympic music Face the Music and Dance) This charted for around 60 weeks! And “The Come Dancing Album” (Big Band Dance music).

A few highlights over the last couple of years include the Lead Supervisor Host Coverage World Athletics in London, F1 coverage continues, The Olivier Awards, Badminton Horse Trials, Glastonbury (25 years and counting), and quite a few more!

Tim is fully conversant with mixing in 5.1 and has mixed sport, music, reality and entertainment shows in surround.

The Production team (which included me!) won an RTS Award for Opening Ceremony (Best Network Entertainment Program), an RTS Award for Outstanding Achievement, and a BAFTA for Best Sports Coverage
